How large are image files likely to be?

I am thinking about buying DriveImage or Norton Ghost so that I can image my entire Hard Disk. How large are the backup Image Files likely to be? My Hard Disk is 100GB. About 20GB is used (data), 80GB is free/unused/no data.

try Acronis True Image Home Version 10. its only £15.10 plus delivery from Ebuyer. You can change the compression on most image programs. but the standard compression would normally mean that your 20GB would drop down to about 10 -12GB. it depends on what type of files you have on your computer. If they are already compressed they won't compress much more.

I use DRIVE IMAGE 7 and the program only copies the part of the hard drive with data on it in your case 20Gb and you also have the option of compressing this data by up to 50% though it will take a little longer to carry out using this method.
DRIVE IMAGE 7 has been invaluable to me as I had that sasser worm recently so I just restored the backup and of course downloaded the latest Microsoft security patches to prevent it happening again!
