my sony vaio laptop wont burn cds anymore?

it used to work fine, now it does the lead in then hangs up. I am using nero which worked ok. I can burn dvds ok. ive tried different discs and software and same thing happens.

laptop model is VGN-FJ1Z/W

I think that there are two lasers and your CD one has gone bad but it's just a guess. If you can, try your drive in another machine.
