How do I reprogram a remote fob for a 2001 Jaguar XKR?

I have a 2001 Jaguar XKR which had only one key and remote fob, I bought a blank key which I will have cut and also a used remote fob, does anyone know how to make the remote work on my car or does it have to be done only by Jaguar.
