scantronic 9651 excess keys reset required but does not reset?

my scantronic 9651 is displaying the error message excess keys reset required so i managed to get a copy of the installation and programming guide and tried to reset it by pressing 0 7890 99 tick tick, the time and date appear however the alarm continues to sound until I enter the code but then it reverts back to the error message "excess keys reset required" - any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

the manual tells you exactly how to do it,but if your friend not feel confident, then best call an engineer ,

gts, January 2011
do you think it might be best if i call out an engineer?

melinda, January 2011
be careful there are mains voltage present in panel.

thanks gts, had a look at the manual for the first stage reset will have to get a friend to help with that over the weekend - thanks for the help

there can be many codes on that panel, depends on the way it was programmed, the owner should have given you the code he was using,if you cant get that, then you will have to do a first stage reset, this resets the codes back to factory conditions without the need to reprogramme the panel,

i'm confused are there two codes?

melinda, January 2011
I tried that but it said invalid code

Melinda, January 2011
this may sound very stupid, but why did you not ask the alarm code??

gts, January 2011
key in your code again ,thats your code not engineering code

gts, January 2011
how do I find out what the code is? I moved into my new place a few months back and the previous owner just gave me the user manual showing me how to use the alarm.

Melinda, January 2011
Using the wrong code, thats a factory set one for engineers to use to programme then we change it.
