Had similar problem where the wipers worked fine but wouldn't stop when the switch was put to the off position - this was on a 2003 multi space (with CAN-BUS) system. it got progressively worse so having looked at the wiring diagram in the good old Haynes manual acted on a hunch and found the problem was with the wiper motor. Pins 1 & 2 should be shorted out when the motor is in the parked position but found high resistance between the pins. It's a Valeo motor and has a plastic top clipped to the gearbox casting - have to take care as the cover has sealant on it so prise it up carefully! Cleaned the two contacts that hang into the centre of the large gear & cleaned the brass contact pad that's fixed to the gear (did it with a fibreglass contact cleaner pencil). Re-fitted the cover with a bit of silicone sealant round the rim & got a short-circuit across pins 1 & 2. Re-fitted the motor and it works fine so fixed at no cost! Assume the BSI unit wasn't getting a signal telling it the motor had reached the parked position... Hope this may help others before spending out on diagnostics and more...

hi, i had same promblem, wiper was staying on going fast ,slow , intermitance, took ignation key out (still on)disconnected wiper arm (still on) found only stopped when i took fuse out,(fuse is by drivers right knee ) i found water under driver and rear storage well, if you take out the storage well inners. you should find water in there. if you put your hand in towards the sill you will find an electrical connection which might be corroded.( mine was ) i cut it out and spliced the cables i havenot had promblem since. also i could not find where the water was comming in. so i sealed everywhere i could think of . hope this helps
