peugeot speedfight 100?

when starter is pressed and released, engine starts but starter motor continues to spin even after ignition is turned off. only way of stopping it is to disconnect battery. could this be a faulty relay?

yes and it is it the only reason it could do this as the starter button only give power to the starter relay when the igntion is on and the button is pressed with a brake in,so it means the two points inside the relay are fused together and its basically sending the battery power straight to the starter motor.the relay is just to the right of the battery and just in front of it as you sit on the bike, its either yellow or grey and rectangular.just replace it with a new one and your problem will be solved.
