Okay the same has just happened to me and I can help resolve the issue. You have just washed down the hob and the water has entered the switch and is connecting the circuit without you pressing the button that does this for you. So keep the marigolds on and take the button off.the small unit under it either comes out with it or not but you want the unit out. This comes puts apart into to parts. The first with two pins is the switch and the other is the plastic box with the wires. Dry all the box with the wires and if it opens dry the inside. Leave it open to dry and the ignition will slowly stop when it is dry enough. Now put it back together.
