vauxhall zafira petrol1.6 club 51 plate cut out...wont restart?

at appx 45mph the car would softly jerk then cut out...then on turning the key restart..but now it has at appx 15mph cut out and wont restart at all..AA MECHANIC came and says theres no spark at plugs.but coil is fine..he said coil is not getting any feed and says its the crankshaft sensor...can i fit this myself..

ive tried crank and cam sensors and new coil pack car still wont start....could it be woodruff key..as i no an a motor bike i had that wouldnt spark it was a woodruff key problem....vauxhall want £300 just to have a look...cant afford that

ive tried crank shaft and cam sensors and the car still wont start AA fella now says he thinks its the ECU unit..the engine is turning but not sparking the rev counter and speedo needles are flicking down when the ignition key is turned.he says this is an earth fault..and says its ECU..but if this was an earth fault would this not drain the battery...the battery is fine.the engine cranks no bother..any help thanks...

ive tried a crankshaft sensor and the car still wont start...could it be a cam sensor as ive been told they run on the same link and code....also would the code have to be cleared before the part is fitted...

Yes, crankshaft sensor is relatively cheap to buy and easy to replace. I would recommend buying the sensor from a Vauxhall dealer spares dept., ebay specials are, in my experience, cheap for a reason.....
Make sure the old o-ring comes out with the old sensor.
For specific info either buy the Haynes manual for your car or join an owners forum such as-
