Do I need a new rechargeable alarm panel battery ?

Last night the electricty supply went off in my area.
At the time I was in bed and my alarm system was part set. As a result of the power cut the alarm panel
activated it's sounder and several circuits on the panel seem to have activated
The power came back on after a short period of time.
The alarm was installed over 15 years ago and work OK but I do not have a service contract. Is it likely that the age of the panels rechargeable battery could have caused this problem.
I have tried cutting the power off to the panel when the alarm sytem is unset and the panel seems Ok.
Can you please help.

i would change the internal battery inside the alarm panel, they only last about 4 years , its very easy to do,this would support the alarm system if a mains fails.

And with no power to the control panel, mains & battery off, if the outside sounder, does not sound, it needs looking at as well, there should be a type of battery there as well.

It's usual to replace the complete outside sounder.
