Brother KH260 and KR 260 knitting machine and ribber needle problem?

I have a Brother KH 260 knitting machine and KR 260 ribber which have not been used for a few years. Having set the machines up the needles wont stay in the knitting position and fall down. I have sprayed them with silicone BSK oil. How do I correct this?

Something for chunky knitters to try. I wanted to knit a particular jumper first I did a test square by hand and on the machine, I matched the machine and my hand knitting. I knitted the front by hand , it was a relief pattern of trees on a gt st background. The rest was knitted on the machine. That was a lazy way of making a special jumper.

Take the sponge bars out when the machine is not in use for long periods so there is no pressure on the sponge itself. They will last longer.

Sorry ! The answer I gave was related to the ribber (KR260)only. The retaining bar for the top bed (KH260) is longer so you will have to search the web for a replacement.

The needle retaining bar is not doing what it should do,these are difficuld to get now but a retaining bar for the for the top bed of the four ply machine can still be got, this will do except that it will not hold the end needles(last needle on either side)which are seldom used anyway, hope this helps.

Hi, Yes it does look as if your sponge bars have gone. You can get replacements from BSK. They have a shop on Ebay where they sell them and also you can contact them direct via their website.
Hope this helps

Hello Eirian R,
It sounds as if you need to replace the sponge bars. Over time the foam degrades and does not exert enough pressure on the needles, causing the problem you have described.
A search on the Internet will give you various places which can supply them.
