Frost free fridges and freezers do make more noise than the regular models,Try adjusting the temperature on both sometimes that will make a difference.I've had mine four years and it still makes a loud crack like a pistol shot every so often.Engineer been out countless times but something i've to put up with.
It's probably the fan running as most frost free freezers blow cold air in to prevent frost build up
