Anti pollution fault light on my 206 . ?

I have just topped up my peugeot 206 engine oilfor the first time since having it ...... before a long journey next week , however when i restarted the engine i had the anti pollution warning sign come on along with the little engine warning sign on my dash .i am now scared to drive it . The oil i used was the correct oil ....and i cant seem to work out what the problem is ? if some one could give me some idea about how to fix this problem or some advice it would be greatly appreciated thank you .

Check that you haven't overfilled the oil. If you have, let some out, or drain it and start again.

Otherwise, as cdc says, your forthcoming long run may burn off deposits of unburnt fuel and the light may then go out. If it doesn,t, or if you get a misfire, then you will have to investigate further.

it relates to your particulate filter in your exhaust and generally gives problems if you do a lot of town driving,if it is not too blocked up a good long run with high engine revs will get the exhaust really hot and hopefully burn off the deposits in your system, but if it is severely blocked it will have to go onto the correct diagnostic equipment to be re generated that way
