there will possibly be a capacitor attached to the motor.this is the start capacitor and when they fail the drum will not start up and hums in a stalled position.if you are careful remove the top and when it is humming CAREFULLY push the drum around by hand and see if the drum starts and continues to rotate.this is a good guide and test for a faulty start capacitor
