Can I fix my sony vaio laptop?

I have a Sony Vaio Laptop, PCG-FRV25, Model PCG-9J2L.

The power plug receptacle is damaged and the cord will not stay in. There doesn't seem to be a way to wiggle the cord to make a good connection. Where can I find a used (or new) power receptacle? Is it likely to be too difficult for a novice like me to replace?

I have a Sony Vaio Laptop, Model PCG-9J2L, but it does not turn on. What can be?

You can get these kind of things from Maplins, RS components in the UK or Radio Shck in the US.

You need to be able to solder compentently to a printed circuit board. If you are not skilled at soldering, a laptop PC is not the place to practice.
