The 942 is a very basic zig zag machine and you should not have any problems, make sure you have enough pressure on the presser foot, make sure the teeth are at the highest point and you have not dropped them down by mistake, put the machine in reverse and if you get very long stitches then you need to have it adjusted at the shop.
