Dishwasher fault?

Our machine is a Miele g64c plus. The inlet/drain light comes on for no apparent reason either right at the begining of the cycle e.g. 20 or so seconds after it starts or...more infuriatingly just close to the end of it's cycle ie when it is full of "clean"(ish) dishes and is just about to dry them; leaving the machine full of very hot water and steamed up dishes. Any ideas please? I am quite technically minded (very safety conscious) and able to take things to bits... and even "put them back together"....sometimes:)!!

Thank you for responding Bernii, I don't know what I have done but the machine now works??( has done for the past week!!) I remedied a definite Kink in the inlet pipe when I pulled the machine out to investigate your suggestions..so..maybe that was it:) I do hope so! Should the fault occur again I will try some of your more in-depth remedial actions. Thank you so, so much once again for bothering to respond, best wishes.

This light can come on for many reasons, not just inlet or drain.....
1 Partially blocked/kinked inlet or drain hose
2 Blocked circulation pump causing reduced pressure to pressure switch( attached to pump)
3 Faulty pressure switch.
4 Leak causing safety device to operate
