code e40 washing machine zanussi hydrosystem wont work?

when i push start the machine does not fill it cancels and E40 is then displayed followed by a beeping noise

does the door lock keep clicking over and over and then stop beeping?.If it does the above it could be a faulty door lock switch BUT sometimes they damage the main control pcb output to the door lock when they fail!!!
