Sprinter 208D 1997 having trouble starting ?

After ceanking for ages it comes alive and goes on even when I turn ignition off and remove key. Any ideas please.

it looks as if you have a vacume problem the engine is stoped by vacume when you turn off ignition it allowes vacume to opperate the stopper on injection pump
