Heater fan not working correctly?

Peugeot 306 1.4 heater fan is only working with the control switch on full, It stops blowing on the lower speed controls. Can you advise what is wrong.

it is the censor to the heater motor which is attatched to the motor my husband had the same problem they dont cost very much and you can do it your self
