How can I determine water leak source from gearbox ?

Water leaking from the Gearbox where it attaches to the engine block, strange problem dont know if there is a freeze plug on the engine block side of the gearbox, there is no pipe or head gasget leak

Is this a Mercedes with an auto gearbox? If so new radiator required. Probably a new gearbox too.
