How do i open the fuel cap on my 51-reg Vauxhall Vectra? ?

How do i open my fuel cap on my 51-reg Vauxhall Vectra? It ran out of diesel about a week ago on my way to work and i haven't been able to remove it and had to get my (t)rusty bike out of the shed. Also,do i need to do something else with it or just put diesel in?

how did you open your fuel cap before when you were putting fuel in it. has it broke, is it jammed on, why not tell exactly what the problem is. some of the questions on here must be written by primary school children.
