dryer continues to run the cycle even when you open the door?

We have a Kenmore 80 Series gas dryer that we purchased in 2001.
Currently the light is out inside the dryer

It has become noisy

Most disturbing is the dryer does not stop when you open the door. The way I found to stop it in mid cycle is to turn the timer to 0.

Is this fixable? Worth it? Dangerous?

Hi, there is a small switch that is actuated when you open and close your door, most likely is has gone bad. not such a big deal, but if your dryer is making additional noises then you have other problems. This being a gas dryer, i would not recommend tryng to fix it yourselfs unless you are qualified.
if the dryer is an older model (10 years or more ) you may want to consider getting another one. if your door switch is bad and your drum rollers too (part that can cause your dryer to become noisy) you can plan on spending pretty close to $100-150 ) on repair.
