Have a punto 1.2 and the steering light stays on and the steering gets heavy. I have been told that the steering needs replacing - is this correct? Also, the engine management light stays on??? The speedo only works occassionly. This all happened after running over a kerb but not all at once (2/3 days). Can anyone help as one garage has told me it is not worth doing. Many thanks. Bobh.

My friend also has this problem with her punto, It will cost more than the car is worth to fix it, when the steering light comes on stop the engine turn back on and it should go all i can recommend is that you drive when the steering goes heavy and after a while you will get used to it. with the speedo you may wish to take the head unit out and check all the connectors behind the clocks are in properly. is just a four bolt job should take 10 minutes max. hope this helps you.
