Daphne MAKE SURE THE PLUG IS REMOVED BEFORE COMMENCING ANY WORK. Check the element first to make sure that all the elements springs are not broken and that you have no broken wires. You have either an element problem or a thermostat problem, but i would bet any money on it that the thermostat is the cause of your problem. Remove retaining screws from rear cover. Carefull remove this cover and put out of harms way as the edges are very sharp.
Depending on the model you will see a number of wires going to what appears to be two small circles about the size of a 1penny piece. you will have a number of wires going to these round discs(these are your thermostats)You should have two pink wires on one side and two blue or light green wires on the left. Make a note exactly where these cables run. Remove and replace both thermostats as they usually come in sets make sure they the new ones are fitted into their correct holes. You will find that they will be marked anyway.Fitting is exactly the opposite of the removal.
Make sure before putting back together you give the Tumble dryer a good clean remove any debris lint or build up of dust. Thermostats usually fail because of the door being opened suddenly while the dryer is in cycle, although this is rare it does happen.
