chain saw chain tensioner performance power?

Any ideas as how to ensure the adjusting pin remains in the chain tension pin hole on a PWR33CCCSA chain saw? Also is the guide bar plate correctly shown in the operating manual with the flange pointing outwards, i.e. away from the chain?
