Scantronic 9800 r1 fault?

I recently moved to a house that has a scantronic 9800. We have been using the alarm fine with no problems. I have had a small extension on the house which required the alarm key pad and one sensor to be moved. We entred the engineer code and powered down the system. We moved the pad and sensor (also replacing the sensor with a new one) and powered up the system. The alarm went off and i entred the code but alarm continued to sound. After a number of attemps we decided to carry out system reset. We connected up system and entred default code. We managed to get back to enginner mode. Now when exiting enginner mode i have fault r4. I entred enginner mode again removed key pad and pushed tamper button in and now when out of enginner mode i get r1 fault can any one help???

we do this with all back tampers, for as nick says, there a pest,:-)

what we do is drill a hole put rawl plug and screw in and adjust the screw till it operates the tamper, permanent repair

Steve if you still cant get the tamper to clear, which was a common fault, Answer, cut a 5.5 red rawl plug and use half of it, slide it under the tamper plate that is screwed on the wall, the rawl plug will raise the tamper plastic connector enough to de-press the stupid tamper button,
Common fault, shame really on a brilliant panel

acorn gave you the prob mate, and how to sort it,check the tamper switch is op,when the case is closed.

Do you think it could be the pannel is faulty then? I mean if i push the tamper it and its still showing a fault? Although it does change from r4 to r1 so it is seeing somthing?

Just the one tamper per KeyPad

acorn, February 2011
Thanks for that i will give it a go. I did try physically pushing the tamper button in with the pannel off wall and the code changed from r4 to r1 and asumed there was an internal tamper is this possible? Thanks again

It just means that the KeyPad part is not seated on the back plate correctly.

Hint - release the screws holding the back plate a turn or so each, stops twisting, bet that solves the problem.

does that mean the key pad is faulty then? Is there just the one tamper button on the key pad?

r1 to r4 = remote keypad back tamper
