Renault Modus Drivers door wont open once locked?

Hi I have a Renault Modus, great car, however my Drivers door will not open once locked, unless I open it from inside. Can I fix this problem without taking my Car to a Garage? If not how much would it cost if the Garage sorted the problem for me?
