will not rev up even with exaust removed?

STHL 85 weed trimmer starts but dies when you open the throttel. Tried the suggestion on some other posts about cleaning and removing the exaust and richening up lidel mixture, but no effect.
Any other thoughts

Problem returned when gears reassembled and ran for a while so that wasnt the problem. Turns out that the siphon hose inside the petrol tank had a 5mm split line down from the top. While the petrol was topped up revs were ok but once petrol drop down to the start of the split when reving up it sucked harder and was able to suck air throught the otherwise closed split while motor idled or ran slower.

motor revs fine with drive gear disconnected, drive gear turns by hand slowly but wont spin fast appears to be gummed up with hardened grease, softening grease by soaking in turpertine. Anyone else experiencing this grease problem? have been geasing regularly an gears still packed with fresh grease

have exactly the same problem with kawasaki brushcutter. manual suggests: 1. fuel supply not continous= a) low & high speed setting too lean. b)defective carburetor diaphragm. c)fuel passage clogged with dust. 2. insufficient acceleration and low speed = a)fuel leaking from carburetor. b)air vents (tank cap) clogged. c)defective carburetor diaphragm. Havent had chance to check above out yet but hope this helps. Like to know your outcome.
