Need to disconnect car alarm system?

Dear Sirs:
I own a 1991 Acura Legend L. About two years ago the alarm began to go off without reason. I left all doors unlocked, windows down, key removed, any thing I could think of to prevent it from happening, to no avail. I now leave a key in it 24/7, and its the only thing that works. Local Honda dealer says its factory installed, ignition wired, and is afraid to touch it. Its a great car in all other respects. Can you help?

On my 1996 Pontiac Bonneville I merely pulled out the black box located under the steering column and took out the fuses and it started with no problem and I did not have any problems with the car not starting anymore, so my assumation is the alarm is no longer active.
