when i turned on one had jibberish and the other had a blank screen , neither of the registers do anything or make any noise when i press any keys. is there anything i can do ?

I guess you mean SPS-1000 registers.
You will have lost all programming, so they will need to be re-programmed.
Leave them turned on for 24hrs to charge up, then perform the memory clear and run through the various setup tables in the manual.
