Delonghi ESS602 Top Oven/Grill problem?

I have a problem in that the element failed in my top oven/grill on my Delongi ESS602 cooker. The element went with a good flash & bang taking about 3 seconds before I got it switched off.
First I replaced the element, but the oven did not heat up and the light did not come on. Further investigation revealed that the small safety stat mounted at the back of the unit was faulty as well, so this was duly replaced.
Now the grill his hardly warming up, and also the oven. The element is a faint glow of red.
Took off the grill/oven selector switch and it looks OK apart from one contact missing. This may be how it should be as I compared the switch against the bottom oven and that too has a contact missing albeit a different one. There is some metal particles lying in the bottom of the compartment undet the switch, these look like iron filings, so is probably from normal contact wear.
What could be causing my new element not to heat up properly, and where can I get a circuit diagram?

Hi
Can't help but can sympathise. Same cooker & same problem - grill element blew, I replaced it. The new grill element only gets to a very dull red and not enough heat to grill. I suspect something else damaged at same time - maybe the reostat(?) - I mean the nob you turn to control what temperature it heats up to.
If you do get an answer or have in meantime solved the problem I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
Cheers - Richard
