Hotpoint Aquarius moisture sensor problem?

Our Hotpoint Aquarius TVM562 has a moisture sensor that should stop it once the clothes are dry, but quite often now, it will just keep going forever until we manually stop it, completely baking the clothes.

This seems quite dangerous so we never leave it on when we're not around!

Does anyone know what the problem might be? The (lack of) moisture detector does still work sometimes...

Sometimes the sensors get coated with conditioner residue and stop working properly. Look inside the drum, you'll see two shiny metal 'buttons' about 3cm dia. Give these a good rub with the green side of a damp scouring sponge (plastic, not metal) then wipe with a cloth. This has been known to cure it.
