i had similar problem . found that the freezer had frozen up inside and the internal fan was hit the ice and making a noise like a drill. if freezer is out of warranty you could try the same as i did. if you empty the freezer and take the baskets out it is possible to take the back panel off. it is held by a few screws. if it has frozen up it will be immediately apparent. remove as much ice as possible , refit back and refill. it worked for me.
