it is likely to be me, but how do i make a direct cash entry to the till with numeric keys.
my till gives an error when i try.

Firstly, make sure you never use a decimal point, so for 5.50, just type 550. Secondly, you need to use an open priced product button. Some of your product buttons may be set to disallow an entry into them (they are preset with a fixed price), so if you have a miscellaneous button, try using that. If you see any buttons marked department, they are normally open.
