Can anyone advise me as to possible cause of slip/judder in reverse & slide into 3rd as MAGS correctly diagnosed in January thanks.

The box will have to come out as the third/reverse clutch pack will be destroyed. The slip is due to insufficient pressure to support the load. That usually means the drum seals are not sealing well enough. The burnt material will end up blocking the filter causing problems elsewhere inside. Overhaul recommended.
