for some reason the when i change gear into 2nd, 4th or reverse the ball comes clean out of the joint on the gear slector arm. it looks as something is pulling the selector arm left ( if lying under engine) and the ball doesnt follow. what can i do to stop this?

dont know what vehicle,but are engine/gearbox mountings or any engine tie bar ok,engine may be at wrong angle causing fault.
