how can i fix my canon i 560 printer?

I cannot get the cartridge holder in my canon i 560 to move into centre - it seems to be stuck at the side.

If you open the top cover with power on, the cartridge holder should shuffle back and forward a few times and then stop in the middle so you can get to the cartridges.
