i have a rover metro ascot its been starting fine then suddenly nothing its turns over but nothing there is a spark so dont think its electrical so thinking fuel what can it be

Hi - I had exactly the same problem TWICE. The problem on both occasions was the rota arm which kept failing. Change the rota arm and also try changing the HT leads as well as if they are shorting or breaking down, this will cause the rota arm to fail.

Do you have fuel in tank?
Can you hear fuel pump running for a second when you turn ignition on.
If not, the fuel pump cut off switch may have activated.
Check handbook for location and reset instructions.
It may be under carpet or panel at the side of footwell.
Also could be a fuse blown in fuse box.
Garage job if non of the above.
