How to fix "RPC server unavailable"?

I am having a problem with RPC server. I'm trying to get my HP laptop on to my wireless network. I've tried ipconfig /release and /renew, but my i.p. still comes back looking very similar to a network key. I've also tried going to services and starting it along with all attached processes, but that also doesn't work. I called support, they just made it so that I can't use dial up either. I've also tried using more than one network adapter and also hooking it up directly to the dsl modem. Any ideas?

You'll get this error if the dhcp client service is not running...

go into Services ( Start > RUn > services.msc )

Find DHCP Client

Start or Restart the Service.

Remote Procedure Call service is used by windows to execute applications between two computers. When do you see the error? This error does not seem to have much to do with the actual wireless network access. I would be surprised that you would get this with only one computer.

Also note that you should be fully patched and have a valid virus scanner, as there are vulnerabilities that could cause this error otherwise.

I assume that you are trying to connect to a wireless router - you don't say.

Can you ping the router?

Try this: Go to network confuration and make sure that you have configured TCP/IP for DHCP. That is to say 'obtain a network address automatically.

If this doesn't help or I have made incorrect assumptions please repost with more information.

BTW you may want to put this under a networking section rather than this one, which is for OS problems. I only spotted it by chance.
