Peugeot 206 Clutch Noise?

When I depress my clutch pedal at times it makes a slipping/clicking noises and its hard to change gears and the pedal loses its tension.

The nosies are coming from inside the car under the clutch pedal area?

Any advise please

The clutch cable apparently has a rachet self adjuster built into it which is located at the end of the cable where it goes into the chasis (to go inside the pedal). The automatic adjuster was not adjusting and remained or got slack and thus making clicking sounds and not disengaging (not being able to change gears and or grinding sounds). The cable was faulty.
