is there a replacable battery?

our veritas 8C goes off when the mains goes off. We then cannot reset the alarm until mains power returns. Does this mean our back up battery is too old to recharge? (It is probably 15 years old) What replacement battery do we need? We don't want to open up the control panel and set the alarm off in case we have a problem and can't stop it.

Amazing, 15 year old battery, Dead, In 15 years you should have had 3 new batteries,
And the next person who phones me and says it cant be a battery fault it reads 12.62 on my multimeter will be hunted down and shot at dawn,
Oh by the way public, us Loyal alarm engineers really need to remember the the general public really do know best,
