is it possible that when i turn on the strip light it could set my alarm off even when it is not armed if so what could be the problem

the panel will tell you ,check to see what leds are lit,
my guess is the standby battery,bet you not had the system serviced,

Alarms will go off, when not armed due to tamper faults. OR Faulty wiring. I would not think, that turning a strip light on would do it, UNLESS, you have a problem, with the system, OR the strip light.
IF they are powered from the same circuit, a faulty strip light could cause a problem with the alarm, IF it only happens with that light, I would look at that light, If the Alarm is on the same floor as the light, probably connected to the same power fuse. Should not happen really, BUT
