How can hook a drainage hose?

My washing machine hose was leaking so I bought a new one. Its a "8' corrugated universal fit-all drain hose" but when I hooked it on it still leaked water. What am I doing wrong?

make sure the drain hose is raised at least 2/3rds of the machine height. If the hose is laid flat water will simply run out.
