1987 Ford Cargo 813 Air System?

Hi, my cargo is exhausting air through the wet tank every minute or so. i have been told this is putting undue strain on the compressor. Can you tell me what might be at fault and what is the ideal working pressure for the brake system. Thanks.

the governor valve ??

the air pressure valve located near the compressor is faulty, this valve controls the air tank pressure and although doesnt switch the compreser off does stop it over filling the tanks and causing the emergancy pressure relief valve to blow.

Hi...yes it does keep pressure over night. Thanks, Matt.

true .but if it is constantly exhausting ,the compressor is constantly working ,which indicates air escaping doesn't have to be a huge leak just enough to keep the compressor busy ..does it hold it's pressure overnight ???

If I had an air leak surely my system would not build up to pressure and need to exhaust?

Matt C, March 2011
probably got an air leak
