Alarm detector sensor on landing flashing?

We have a Securitech 800L+ and the upstairs sensor is always pulsing even when there is no one in its way, we have done the walkthrough test and that confrimed that something was wrong with it, any ideas of what it could be?

Hey Acorn, C&K Elephant Catchers, i installed one at Christmas in a Warehouse, you can imagine joe public reading this, and thinking why on earth would you want to try and catch an Elephant in a Warehouse.
Brilliant detectors, incredibly realiable,

Ah, don't forget the old 'Elephant Catchers'.

Acorn is right, if you have a Grade 3 detector by maybe Risco, the anti-mask will kick in, and your detector will flash and be open circuit. Your wondering why arnt you Lucy, Trust me it is clever technology that is more of a pain than a help, it has its purpose in the right place.
Dual Tec's do a similiar thing.

What are you on about?

If it's what I have suggested, it does not need replacing, just resetting.

acorn, March 2011
to put it simply,replace it,

He means the control panel, nothing else.

But, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'

Oh and to top it off just got an email from Honeywell.
Your alarm is now discontinued as of today :P

Doesnt help you but there you go.

Without knowing what type of detector you have this is a little difficult.

I'm going to assume you have a Dual Detector of some sort, usually a PIR & Microwave in one unit.

If you have been Spring cleaning or similar perhaps you have inadvertently 'masked' the microwave side.

That means that the microwave took your close up cleaning as an attempt to 'mask', cover/stop the detector working correctly, as a result it 'switches off' the microwave side of the detector leaving it working only on the PIR side.

If what I have said rings true, the only way to reset the detector is to remove the power to that detector for 30secs or so to allow it to reset back to its normal condition.

How you need to go about that is another story.

Please post HERE again to let us know the result or to ask for additional help.

Good luck.
