Timing Adjustment on Janome QC 6260?

I was trying to mend a shredded shirt sleeve, when the fabric got pulled down into the feed dog area, causing a jam and tangle of threads. Now the needle does not loop around and pick up the bobbin thread. I have tried replacing the needle, replacing the bobbin, re-threading several times ... no luck. It seems to me that the hook is not in the right place to catch the thread before the needle goes back up again. I have tried looking at it while turning the wheel manually, and I am fairly sure that the timing is out of sync. Any help? The nearest repair shop is an hour drive for me, so I'd really love to be able to fix it myself if possible. Thank you!
