yes the old key will have a micro chip in it that is tuned to the vehicle ecu. Your new key will need tuning to the vehicle or if you still have the old key and you can get the micro chip out of the old key (VERY CAREFULLY) and then fit it into the new key the vehicle should start. If you can not get the micro chip out of the old key then remove the ignition excitatior ring which is around the ignition barrel and has a wiring plug for the wiring loom. Once removed leave plugged into the wiring loom put your original key so that the body of the key is inside the excitatior ring (hold it in place) and using the new key in the ignition start the vehicle. If it starts which it should and you have a spare key you can tape the key into the excitatior ring and hid it into the dash area. A WORD OF WARNING THE IGNITION IMMOBILISER WILL BE DEACIVATED WHILE THE KEY IS TAPED INTO THIS POSITION IT IS A GET YOU GOING FIX YOU WILL NEED AN AUTO ELECTRCIAN OR AUTO LOCKSMITH TO RECODE THE NEW KEY TO THE VEHICLE.

you need to swap transponder from old key fob to new key-be careful not to lose it [about 5mm x 12mm x 2mm] when you open fob!
