What's wrong with the burner on my Rangemaster Classic Dual Fuel 110?

My Rangemaster Classic Dual Fuel 110 is about 6 years old and the main burner (not the Wok burner) doesn't work properly in the low position. The flame gutters, turns yellow and a black deposit is left on the underside of the burner assembly plus bad smell. We get round it by using other burners for low heat but it has become annoying. Any ideas?

sounds as if the jets need cleaning. use a very fine piece of wire to do this ( just one strand of electrical cable for example). push the strand of wire down the hole where the gas enters the burner. this is known as the jet and could be blocked, be careful not to increase the size of the hole as this will cause the jet never to work properly again.
