How do I fix my Brandt fridge/freezer Apollo (frost free)?

How do I fix the temperature control in my fridge? It's a Brandt Apollo frost free combined fridge and freezer. I'm not sure (can't find one) if it has an appliance code.... Last week, both the fridge and freezer compartments were warmer than they should be. After reading the manual we managed to over-ride the freezer by activating the 'fast freeze' switch. This has cooled the freezer well, but the fridge seems to still be too warm. Over the weekend we used the temperature control at different levels to see if this was the problem. This seemed to work slightly, but is back to warm again today!? We have tested the plug socket and the green pilot light is on, also the light in the fridge is working! Any suggestions on what to do about the temperature would be great. Or who we can contact for advice/fixing.... Thank you.

how can i change the thermostat on my brandt apollo fridge freezer

Ross Mann, January 2011
I have the Brandt Apollo Frostfree Fridge Freezer..and shamefully, for what it cost, I would have expected a lot better..and a bit of a longer lifespan than 4 yrs!!

I had a few problems with it while it was still under warranty (thank God!) but I have just had to pay £70 for a repair man to look at it, to tell me that the part, he thought I needed was £125 (The circuit board) plus another £70 to come again, to fix it!

So today I leave happily for work, assuming this is the last of the 2 week saga..and having survived the recently lush hot weather with no fridge..lol..only to find out, this isn't the problem, it's seemingly the cut off control which is the only irreplacable part, lol!!..and so he has now bypassed it, as a temporary measure..and I have to use a timer as a manual override..Tell me this is right?? lol!!

Considering my fridge before this, was a 40 yr old american beastie which cost me £50 10 years prior (?!!) I'm seriously gutted that I am now looking at an incredibly handsome, yet otherwise useless fridge freezer..and am going to have to buy another, which I can ill afford, let alone another stainless steel one, I could weep am so upset..and think I would rather trust a Candy, than buy another Brandt!!

I have the same problem. The engineer called. The small white plastic 'dial' that you turn to adjust the temperature is broken. It pulls completely out and I can see that the end on the inside is broken slightly. Hence when it is turned it does not have much effect on the fridge thermostat. The engineer has ordered a replacement piece.
Hope this helps.
When we bought the Fridge-freezer it came with a large white plastic slab, a bit like a chopping board, but the shop who sold it to me did not know what it was for, so I threw it away. Do you know what it was for at all?
