Temp Gauge high, coolant draining too quickly?

Dear Sirs,
1996 1.4RT Clio temp gauge goes very high in few mins from engine starting whilst drains coolant quickly too even after pouring new water in within few mins.
Also noticed last week b4 this prooblem the Heater was not blowing hot air.
I think this is thermostat problem but as im not technically minded, I thought id seek advice online as Renault service techs are off during bank holiday etc
Much Obliged

all french cars are crap, cheap nasty bits of metal, this guy must be thick, you dont keep putting water in if it pours out,you look to see where the leak is,or i have i got it wrong?

Well, as you should know by now, Renaults are c**p cars. It's pointless keep puting water in if it drains out in minutes. Find out where it's leaking from before you blow up your engine, which will cost you mega bucks, then get rid of it, if you can.
